IPAF HARNESS COURSES WE RUN

The right IPAF Harness course depends on your role and whether you need to wear or inspect a harness.

Harness Awareness Course (Theory Only)
If you do not need to personally wear or use a harness, the Harness Awareness Course is the right option. This theory-based course and assessment can be completed remotely via eLearning or in person at an IPAF Approved Training Centre. It is ideal for managers, planners, safety professionals, and supervisors.

Harness Awareness + Harness User Courses (Theory & Practical)
If you do need to wear or use a harness as part of your job, you must first complete the Harness Awareness Course, followed by the Harness User Course practical assessment at an IPAF Approved Training Centre. The Harness User practical assessment can also be incorporated into your MEWP Operator Course. This option is typically for MEWP operators.

Harness Awareness + Harness User + Harness Inspector Courses (Inspection Training)
If you are responsible for inspecting your company's Personal Fall Protection Equipment (PFPE) and maintaining inspection records, including those required by law, you should complete the Harness Awareness Course, Harness User Course, and then the Harness Inspector Course. This training is designed for company harness and safety inspectors who are responsible for ensuring equipment remains safe and compliant.

the HA Course alone could be taken as eLearning,
remotely, in half a day or less.

Candidates taking both the HA and HU courses
could do so consecutively, in-person at an IPAF
training centre, led by an instructor, with a duration
of half a day. Or they could have completed the HA
Course by eLearning prior to attending an IPAF
training centre.

Candidates taking the HI Course must have previously
passed the HA and HU courses prior to taking the HI
Course in-person, at an IPAF training centre, led by an
instructor, with a duration of half a day.

Qualification

Upon successful completion of the Harness
Awareness Course (HA), Harness User Course
(HU), or Harness Inspector Course (HI), candidates
receive a digital certificate, accessed via the IPAF
ePAL app.

All harness qualifications are valid for five years.
